Estonian Orthodox Singing

Cyrillus Kreek (1889-1962) was the son of an Estonian Orthodox psalmist from Happsalu. Studying classical music in St Petersburg between 1908 and 1916, he was an avid collector of Estonian folk music. His Orthodox psalms, a staple in Estonian Orthodox church services, combine elements of traditional Orthodox liturgical music with folk melodies.
